For subsequent industrial use, the petroleum coke must be thermally cleaned in a &#8220;calciner&#8221; at temperatures of approx. 1400\u00b0C. The \u201ccalcined petroleum coke\u201d is thus created. In addition to being used as a carburising agent, calcined petroleum coke is used as anode coke in the aluminium industry and in the heat treatment of steel for example.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Application<\/h5>\n<p>RANCO petroleum coke is perfect as a carburising agent for grey cast iron (EN-GJL) and cast steel (EN-GS).<\/p>\n<p>The purpose is to adjust the correct carbon content in the liquid iron. There are different types of carburisers, varying in quality, shape and size.<\/p>\n<p>The solubility of the carbon depends on the relationship between the degree of saturation, the temperature and the time. Other influencing factors include the bath movement of the furnace, the proportion of slag in the melt, the sulphur content of the alloy and carburising agent, and the carbon structure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Advantages of Ranco<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Products<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>High carbon content and low levels of volatile components and ash enable efficient carburisation.<\/li>\n<li>Customised grain sizes available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Grain Size<\/h5>\n<p>The optimum grain size depends on the melt aggregate and the time of addition to the melt.
